Richfield Health Resource Center's (Familiar) New Face

We are excited to welcome Ibelizet Dominguez as our new Richfield Health Resource Center (RHRC) coordinator! Ibelizet graduated from Richfield High School in 2015, and her former teachers and other RHS staff were thrilled to welcome her back to the building — this time as a colleague! 

“The best part of being back at RHS is connecting with my favorite teachers!” she said. “I owe them so much and seeing them after all these years has been the best.”

After she graduated, Ibelizet worked for Latino Affairs at Minnesota State Mankato where she focused on recruitment and retention of students of color, specifically Latino students. 

“I provided academic advising to students to ensure they were on track for graduation in their desired field,” she explained. “I also organized cultural events and workshops which were a huge part of student life for our Latino students.”

Ibelizet wanted to work at the RHRC because she believes in access to healthcare. “There are so many barriers in receiving adequate care for physical, sexual, dental and mental health,” said Ibelizet. “I love that this role focuses on addressing these barriers AND doing something about it. Our students and community are deserving of just that.”

"It is amazing to see an RHS alumni walk back through the doors as a new staff member," said Christina Haddad Gonzalez, Director of Student Support Services. "Ibelizet is passionate about her work and has done a fantastic job in her new role. Her experience as a Richfield student and now as a Richfield staff is such a gift to our community. She is a great addition to the team!" 

Ibelizet’s favorite part of working at the RHRC is seeing students being engaged with their health. She is especially grateful to see students seek out mental health services through the RHRC, and says that while she recognizes there are still stigmas surrounding mental health, she loves that students at RHS are normalizing it. “They see it as another aspect of health care,” she explained. “It’s amazing to see.”
