Fall Sports Registration is Open!

Fall Sports Registration is Open!

Greetings RHS families,

Athletic registration is now open for our fall season! If your child is interested in participating in any of our fall sports, please read the information below and complete the registration process.

Important Dates

  • Monday, August 12: Fall athletic practices start with our coaching staff for RHS teams. Please check team Schoology pages for more information about captains practice the week before.

  • Monday, August 19, 6 p.m. A mandatory parent/player/coach meeting for all athletes on a C, B, JV or Varsity level team in the RHS auditorium.

  • Thursday, September 5: All RMS sports start. All athletes should report to the RMS cafeteria after school. There will be a brief meeting and an opportunity to meet coaches and receive schedules. Practice for registered athletes will last until 5 p.m.

Registration

All registrations are completed online through SchoolPay, our district’s online payment portal. All athletes must have completed the registration process to practice, try out or compete. This includes:

  • A current health physical

  • MSHSL forms

  • Sport Specific Registration Form

  • Payment

All students must have a current sports qualifying physical on file to participate in sports.

  • If you have a new sports qualifying physical, please send it to athletics@rpsmn.org. If you are not sure if yours is current, please send an email to athletics@rpsmn.org, so we can check for you.

  • A sports qualifying physical is different from a wellness check. You can add the sports qualifying physical onto a wellness check, but you need to let your doctor know this is what you want to do.

  • If your child needs a sports qualifying physical, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider. Other options include: MinuteClinic, TRIA, or the Richfield Health Resource Center, which will reopen for the year on Monday, August 5 and will be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-5 .m. The RHRC provides care free of charge to all youth who live in or attend school in Richfield.

  • If you would like to schedule an appointment at TRIA, here is the link provided to us by our athletic trainer.

How to complete registration:

  • If our office has a current physical on file, please follow these instructions to complete the registration process.

  • Apply online for education benefits (previously known as the free and reduced-price lunch application) at schoolcafe.com/RICHFIELDPUBLICSD. If you receive reduced educational benefits, your fees will automatically be reduced by 25%. If you receive free educational benefits, your fees will automatically be reduced by 50%. If you see your fees are not automatically reduced during checkout, please contact our office at athletics@rpsmn.org.

We never want finances to be a reason a student doesn’t participate. Payment plans and scholarships are available to all students, regardless of educational benefits. Students registering for an activity or sport who cannot pay their registration fee in full may request a reduced fee for economic hardship. As stated in Board Policy 781.1, all requests will be reviewed, and additional documentation may be requested. Please email athletics@rpsmn.org so we can help create a plan that works for your family.

Communication
Team communication will come through ParentSquare in a sport-specific group. If your child hasn’t participated in this sport before, they will be added to this group after the registration process is complete. If you have questions about any of our fall sports, please contact the coaches at their listed email addresses by clicking here.

Handbook
Richfield Athletic and Competitive Activities Handbook is a great resource for athletes and parents to read about important policies and guidelines. This handbook includes information on eligibility, MN State High School League Policies and lots of other important information.

Competitive Schedule
Game Schedules are available at Tri-Metro Conference Schedules. If there are any changes due to weather or cancellations, this schedule will be updated first. We encourage all parents to subscribe to the “Notify Me” option so they are alerted to any schedule changes.

We look forward to having your child participate in Richfield athletics. If you have questions, please contact us at athletics@rpsmn.org. Email is the best way to get in touch with us, as our offices are currently being improved and will be under construction. We are happy to help! Go Spartans!
