Congratulations to our Tom Spooner Nominees & Winner

Congratulations to each of our Tom Spooner nominees, from left to right: Antwane Ruiz, Zavier Hayes, Joaquin Jamison, Jacob Noonan, and Thomas Madrid. These student athletes were nominated on the basis of their achievement in athletics, citizenship and academic excellence.

Special congratulations to our winner, Joaquin Jamison! Joaquin was chosen to receive this award from the Spartan Foundation based on his achievements in athletics. Joaquin played for the Richfield Track & Field, Football and Soccer teams while maintaining a high level of academic achievement. Joauqin was a captain on our Track & Field team for two years and MVP for one year, as well as received awards in Track & Field as a 2x Section Champion, 2x Academic All State, 4x All Conference, and State Participant.

Outside of athletics, Joaquin participates in the Green Team, National Honor Society and as a Teachers Aid, as well as volunteering with the PACER Center and YoungLife Church. He plans to attend the University of Minnesota with a major in Mechanical Engineering and as a walk-on with their track & field team.

“One of my favorite and earliest childhood memories was setting up laundry baskets in our basement to allow me and my brother to play a multitude of sports from basketball to soccer, even floor hockey,” he said. “I'd like to think these moments were the base to my sports accomplishment.”

Congratulations, Joaquin!
