Spartan of the Week: Amara

Spartan of the Week: Amara

Shout out to Amara Ramirez, our Spartan of the Week!

  • Activity: Swimming & Diving
  • Grade: 12
  • Coach: Matt Graham
  • Elementary School: Richfield STEM Elementary

What do you like most about your activity?

I love swimming not only for the competitive aspect but I also love how close all the girls on the team are. We are like a little family, and they're one of the reasons I enjoy coming to practice every day!

What do you like about Richfield High School?

I like how diverse and welcoming the community is here.

What motivates you to do your best?

There are so many people that motivate me to do my best, but my biggest supporters have always been my family, coaches, and teammates!

Who is your role model?

My role model is my mom. She is one of the most caring people I know, and she never hesitates to put others before herself. I aspire to be as compassionate and driven as her.

What advice would you give to middle school students?

Don't be afraid to get involved in school activities and sports. If something interests you, go for it! Even if it's something new, you never know what could happen until you try.

What are your hobbies? What do you like to do when you aren't participating in your activity?

When I have free time, I like to draw or paint. I also really enjoy cooking and baking.

What is your favorite subject?

My favorite subject is science since there are so many different things to learn. I have always thought it was super interesting, especially biology and chemistry.

What do you plan to do after high school?

I plan to attend college to study nutrition, with a focus on Dietetics.

The Spartan of the Week program highlights students involved in Richfield Athletics and Activities. The Spartan of the Week is chosen for their positive contribution to the program through their leadership and commitment. Each coach/advisor can nominate one student per activity.
