Senior Stories: Sumaya Dhimbil

Sumaya Dhimbil, a dynamic and ambitious senior at Richfield High School, is on the path to pursuing a career in computer science and looks forward to studying at the University of St. Thomas next year.

“Sumaya is extremely smart and willing to take on tough tasks. She has a special knack for drilling down to the key point in a concept or idea and simplifying complex patterns for others.” says Mr. Powers

Sumaya is most proud of recognizing the importance of being open-minded. This mindset has allowed her to seize big opportunities and grow both personally and academically. Her involvement in a wide range of extracurricular activities reflects her commitment to making the most of her high school experience.

Throughout her time at Richfield High School, Sumaya has been actively involved in student government, the National Honor Society, College Possible, Safe and Supportive Schools, Spartan Crew, DECA, the Muslim Student Association, Dare 2 Be Real, and the Calendar Committee. Her participation in these organizations has honed her leadership skills and provided her with valuable networking opportunities. In her free time during the winter, Sumaya enjoys skiing. This hobby allows her to stay active and enjoy the season to the fullest.

Sumaya’s favorite class was Precalculus with Mr. Zoellmer. Sumaya says, “Mr. Zoellmer is an absolute riot because not only is he the funniest teacher on the planet, but he's also the GOAT—Greatest of All Time.”

Sumaya Dhimbil's journey is characterized by her open-mindedness, dedication to academics, and active involvement in her school community. With her strong sense of purpose and drive, she is ready to excel in the field of computer science and continue making a difference in the lives of others.
