Senior Stories: Juan Colindres

“Juan brings positivity wherever he goes,” said ELL teacher JoHanna Andrews. “Despite not being at Richfield High School for all four years, he has really helped create an inclusive community amongst our new-to-Richfield ELL students.”

Originally from El Salvador, senior Juan Colindres dreams of becoming an electrical engineer and has shown a determination and dedication that has earned him admiration from peers and teachers alike during his time at RHS. "I see myself as a person with a lot of character who has achieved great goals in the field," he said. Juan is fueled by a passion for and fascination with electricity.

When asked about his plans to achieve his goals, Juan said, "My plan is to work hard, be disciplined and never give up until I achieve my dreams. I will make the most of my time and seize every opportunity that comes my way."

At RHS, Juan enjoyed meeting new people and was grateful to his teachers for the support they gave him. “I feel proud to be a good person, and to be a person with values who pursues goals and does not give up,” he said. His advice to freshmen is to enjoy every day and take advantage of all the opportunities that are available.

He specifically mentioned his ELL teacher, Ms. Andrews, who has been a constant source of support for him during his time at RHS. “She has always been there for me, advised me and encouraged me,” he said. Juan is also grateful for his family, who have always supported him in his decisions and motivated him to fight for his goals.

In his leisure time, Juan likes to read books, watch movies and play soccer. Outside of academics, Juan also enjoys being outdoors and in nature. "I like to have fun with nature, feel connected with myself and discover new things and places," he shared.

If Juan could visit anywhere, he’d like to go to Venice and travel around by boat. His friends would describe him as respectful, friendly, ambitious and helpful. “I am proud to be a person with strong values,” he said, “who never gives up on reaching their goals.”
