Ciaran Basso, a dedicated senior at Richfield High School, is set to continue his education at Transition Plus next year. His ultimate goal is to secure a job making pizza.
Reflecting on his high school journey, Ciaran is proud of his academic achievements, as well as earning a letter and a sportsmanship award for his efforts in adaptive bowling. Before RHS, Ciaran attended Centennial Elementary School and Richfield Middle School.
Ciaran appreciates the support of his large family, which includes numerous siblings and several pets. At school, his favorite experiences include spending free time with friends and attending physical education classes, particularly enjoying sports and movement. He credits Mr. Kalbow and Ms. Mattson as the teachers who have had the greatest impact on him. “Their sense of humor made it fun to keep coming to class and doing my best,” he said.
“Ciaran has a great sense of humor and loves to make others laugh,” said RHS teacher Emily Mattson. “Ciaran does a great job of going with the flow and turning lemons into lemonade.”
When asked what advice he would give to freshmen, Ciaran said, “I would tell them that they can accomplish anything, and don't be afraid to ask for help.”
Ciaran describes himself as funny, kind, and enthusiastic. If he could meet anyone, he would choose Mr. Beast, admiring the YouTube personality’s generosity. Ciaran dreams of a future where no one is held back due to disabilities. Ciaran also hopes to volunteer with a pet rescue organization because of his love for animals.
