Senior Stories: Bryan Herron

Proactive, approachable and diligent are three words that senior Bryan Herron would use to describe himself. One of his teachers, Karah Holle, agrees. “Bryan has a confident, friendly and contagious attitude. He's polite and kind. I look forward to seeing him every day!”

Bryan’s favorite thing about high school has been talking to people from different walks of life and learning about their experiences and culture. It makes sense, then, that his favorite class is Ethnic Studies, where he is able to learn about different cultures and ideologies. He credits the teacher, Dr. Wegner, for making the class so enjoyable. 

Another teacher, Dr. Schiffler, has also made a positive impact on Bryan’s life. “Dr. Schiffler has had the greatest impact on me because she helped me develop as a person and a student,” he said. “She listened to my problems when nobody else did. She's the reason I keep going, to make her proud. Honestly without her I may not be here today.”

At home, Bryan enjoys spending time with his family and friends, including his mom, younger brother, dad and step mom. He also adores his dad’s two pitbulls, and refers to his grandma Jean as “the soul of my family.” In the community, Bryan has been involved in DECA, Dare 2 Be Real, the Black Student Union and Richfield Young Life, a local nonprofit that he hopes to continue to support.

Bryan plans to attend community college and then transfer to a university, with the long-term goal of graduating and starting his own business. Becoming an entrepreneur is a dream of his, and he is ready to work towards that dream. “I plan on always investing in myself and surrounding myself with people who also strive for success,” he said.

Bryan’s advice to freshmen is to not get behind in school work or take unnecessary study hour classes. If he could travel anywhere in the world, he would choose either Jamaica or Egypt. When asked about which TV show he would like to be on, he joked, “I'd like to be on any show where I would be the main character.”
