This month Fametta Zubah, RHS Class of 2021, visited our current juniors and seniors to talk about how to be successful in college, postsecondary plans, securing scholarship funding and navigating the cost of college. Here’s what she had to say about the experience:
“Being able to return to the high school and share my resources and experiences with the students was an amazing experience. I know that it is hard to receive information from people who seem much older than us, so I felt as if I had enough college experience to share some tips with them while also being fairly fresh out of high school.
Upon graduating, I felt prepared academically but there was so much more information that I wish I had known before starting college. My experience made me want to help other high school students obtain more knowledge and help them create a foundation that would set them up for success through the transparency of my story. I may not have everything figured out but from the response of the students, a few things seemed to resonate with them.
Overall, I had great conversations following my presentation and I was able to answer a lot of questions which made me happy!”
Fametta is currently at the University of Minnesota majoring in Strategic Communication with a minor in Leadership. Along with her yearly scholarship for RHS students engaged in community service, Fametta's visit showcases her dedication to her community and love for helping others.
