CCR @ AIR Pod: Jesus Garcia Garcia

CCR @ AIR Pod: Jesus Garcia Garcia

Many thanks to CCR @ AIR Pod guest speaker Jesus Garcia Garcia, who shared his inspirational education and career pathway with us this week. He gave a special shoutout to several teachers, including Mr. Cunningham, who helped him realize college was an option for him, and Mr. Tepp, who always made him feel welcome in Honors Biology, even when Jesus didn’t feel like he fit in. Jesus shared the challenges he faced as an undocumented student, especially financial, and the difficulties of having to work three jobs during his senior year. But he persevered and is an amazing example of resilience and determination. He shared that even though his dreams didn’t always seem “realistic,” he went after them with everything he had. He is currently working on brain research at the University of Minnesota and hopes to become a surgeon one day. Jesus shared that his goal in life is to help, “I want to use my time for good.” What a wonderful role model Jesus is for all of us, no matter where we are in our journey.
